Still Figuring it Out
7 DecI still had only a vague idea of what I wanted to do for my deck. I couldn’t decide how Harry Potter I wanted it, all I knew was that I wanted to use my lion and my coat of arms. The first problem I encountered was that although my vector assets looked good individually, they didn’t make a lot of sense when I put them together. Another problem I came across was my texture. Since all of my textures were scans, they were raster files and if I blew them up to fit my deck the images would be pixelated.
Add some Texture
6 DecPretty much all of the objects I scanned for texture I had lying around the house. I didn’t end up using many of them but it’s always nice to have a bunch just in case you need it for something else. So I’m going to keep these textures archived for future access.
Sketch Work
6 DecHere is my original deck design along with some of my other sketches which I didn’t end up using.
Feeling Inspired
6 DecBeing up past 2am has never really boded well for me. I was drinking tea from my Harry Potter mug and the idea for my skate deck hit me. I knew that it wasn’t necessarily a “predator” theme but I wanted to make a coat of arms for this assignment. After running the idea past a few of my friends I decided that I wanted to go more Harry Potter. I figured that it would be fun to play up the Gryffindor versus Slytherin rivalry by pitting a lion against a snake (bonus that they’re both predator-ish)!
Here are a bunch of pics that inspired my design for my skate deck.
In the Arctic
21 OctHere’s a link to our water colour painting of the arctic for our ”paper zoo”. A lot of the credit goes to Ambrose Wong and Sara May for the painting.
My animal sketches for the zoo will be up shortly. I have to sketch a penguin, bush baby, lion, squid, desert tortoise, and a buffalo. I’m particularly excited for the bush baby! haha God those things are scary little buggers.
Little Red
27 SepA spin off of Little Red Riding Hood. Mixed with a whole bunch of other Disney Fairy tales, incorporating parts from some of my favourite Disney songs. Luckily I figured out how to put music into a pdf file so the Disney playful Disney mood isn’t lost.
I would like to thank my bus buddy lots for helping to inspire me.
* Just because the file does have audio in it means that it will take a little bit longer to load.
